The sun is setting, meaning New Years' Celebrations are about to start, meaning business for the cape crowd. "You know Jesse, the longer I'm here, the more I think you steered us in the right direction."
"Didn't -" She stops. Wally knows the speed heal trick and it's a wonder why he didn't teach Jesse, but she;s still not wholly sure that''s terrain she can ask about. "Nevermind."
"The usual. Bruised from a night's work and looking forward to going home. School break and all." Meaning she actually has Roy and Lian home and not up to their eyeballs in homework. Miracle of miracles.
Jesse raised an eyebrow at the 'don't' but shrugged and let it go when Donna said nevermind. If Donna wanted to say or ask something, she had the right, as a teammate and friend.
"Are we done? Did I miss the metaphorical ball falling? Or does going out with you mean I get to actually sleep tonight?"
"Oh, midnight was somewhere in between you punching out Thing One and me putting Thing Two in the rafters. We're still on until 3AM, but we can't leave here until the police get a statement or we get a specific call." She sighs. " New rules took effect 4 minutes ago.
She looks again at the hands and choses to risk it. "I thought you speedsters learned to speed heal through speeding up your metabolism."
Jesse looked at her hands. "Heal, yes. I can do it if I think about it hard enough. The problem is that there's still extra heat in them. That's not a thing my powers fix. I can't even run really fast to get the cold. The speed force protects me."
Jesse looked at her hands some more. "Once they're burned, I can heal them, yes. The ice just prevents further damage."
Jesse paused, and looked up. "Happy New Year. Any resolutions you want to share? Any goals I can remind you of in June?"
"Huh. I'll have to remember that." She leans back and looks to the stars. "Meet my son or daughter. Keep enough clients to keep us all fed and watered. You?"
"Keep my father's company going. Get it going stronger, even. Um... Not getting further then three weeks behind on the books, even if the world is ending, or there's an invasion, or whatever."
Jesse followed Donna's gaze up to the stars. "I always wonder how much of the space dust and shuttle parts we leave up there is visible. I know you can see the satellite."
"I remember Rip. At one point he told a hilarious joke. That's about all. I can't even remember the joke. It's all a huge muddle of fog in my brain."
Jesse shifted from looking at the stars to looking at the warehouse. "I don't like not remembering things, but if I have to have a memory gap, which is kind of a occupational hazard, I like the hypertime fog."

Jesse looked up. "How are you?"
